No One's Gettin' Fat But Mama Cass

We have a celebrity look alike on campus. Meet Liz Bogaty, a freshman on campus.
I served her at Jitters the other day and couldn't stop staring at her because of her uncanny resemblance to one of my most loved voices- that of Cass Elliot. Known as Mama Cass she was a member of the pop group in the 60s, The Mamas and the Papas, who sang well-loved hits such as "California Dreamin" "Monday Monday" and "Go Where You Wanna Go." For any of you Lost fans, she also sang the theme song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" (which I think is terrible.) Her solo career didn't produce nearly as good of music as did her work with John Philips, if you ask me. I could go on, but I won't since you can look her up if you want to know more.

Any other look alikes on campus that we know of?

On another note, while the Yo La Tengo show I attended was nearly a week ago, I thought I would make a few comments about it anyway.
To put it shortly, they did not disappoint. I only know two of their albums well, but they played a number off both of them--and some of my favorites including Mr. Tough, Periodically Double or Triple, Here to Fall, Pass the Hatchet, and If Its True. They are authentic and giving and truly grateful for the audience. Yo La Tengo is such a dynamic group, as they can all play different instruments and their sound always giving. Lets just say that I am in love with Georgia, the percussionist. She has such a youthful, pure voice and a maturity about her that I love. We made eye contact. Oh, and Ira asked me what I wanted to hear near the end, to which I responded "The Room Got Heavy" but he declined, saying they would butcher it; he believes in the "sanctity of the request."

  1. Where did you get that picture? Does Liz know of her true genealogy? The Mamas and the Papas just got a lot more literal.

  2. Faceboo. I thought about telling her how much she looked like Mama Cass, but decided not to. While I think it would be a great compliment, and I think Mama Cass is very beautiful, the whole obesity thing might offend someone...
